Hey there! I'm Lisa Duez, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and EMDR Approved Consultant with over two decades of experience in the mental health field. I’m the proud owner of Turning Point Counseling and Consulting, trauma-informed group practice in the heart of Hampton Roads, Virginia.
My journey into business ownership and began later in my career. I spent many years working in many different types of agencies. Somehow, I knew I needed to make a change. The bureaucratic settings just weren’t my vibe. They didn’t benefit my clinicians or clients the way I wanted.
So, in 2016, I took a leap of faith and started my solo practice. By 2019, it blossomed into a small group practice. Despite the 2020 global shutdown, we not only survived but thrived, expanding twice! Today, the practice has two offices and over 25 clinicians. Above all, we prioritizing the well-being of our clinicians while delivering collaborative, trauma-informed care.
When I opened my group practice, I wanted to have a different type of culture. I wanted to develop a culture that was a tight-knit community where empathy and compassion are key. I created a culture of support at Turning Point Counseling and Consulting. I also provide clinical supervision to Social Work supervisees, consulting with individual and group practice owners, and EMDR consultation.
I also enjoy speaking about leadership, moral injury, mental health resiliency, and identity. In 2023, I create a a clinical conference for clinicians, to be supported and empowered inside and outside of the therapy room.
